Thoughts on Today’s Work

This is my first day of comments… but not unlike a “to do” list, I find it very helpful to put into words what my intentions were and thoughts about where to go on the subsequent session with each piece.

At this point I am simply looking for visual concerns, areas where my eye gets caught, and asking is this catch a good thing or a bad thing. When I have no remaining ‘catches’…I sign the piece. In this piece, I still feel that the house is drawing too much attention. My first idea for a solution is to increace the contrast in the shadow and light across the building, and then (if it still is too obvious) to both soften, and replicate the roof/tree edges over the entirty of the house shape. So on the image to the left, I felt that my eye traveled to the house immediatly and I want to make the beautifully glowing orange hill be the major attraction.
